Gillian Bates.

My name is Gillian Bates and I’ve been working as a textile artist since 2008. I produce embroidered sketches with my trusted sewing machine from my sunny studio in Sussex.

My work is predominately a pure celebration of the quirkiness of British life. I’m constantly inspired by my surroundings from all the sights and sounds of the British seaside, to the hustle and bustle of an urban landscape. I also love to create more intricate embroideries depicting all the delicate details of the feathers and fur of our fabulous wildlife.

Contemporary embroideries depicting a variety of subjects that are all in celebration of British life.
